About

A vintage French faience shoe from the Emaux de Longwy art pottery workshop in France. The ceramic shoe has a molded hole on one side so it can be hung as a wall pocket; it can also be displayed on a tabletop or shelf and used as a vanity or desk accessory. There is an interesting label underfoot that reads: SENT HOME / FROM GERMANY / IN 1944 BY / ELLIS WYANT. The shoe is hand-decorated with a colorful enameled glaze in a cloisonné-style chinoiserie design. The decoration consists of multicolored blossoms on a bright blue ground while the interior is a contrasting salmon pink featuring Longwy's signature Chinese style craquelure glaze. Very good condition, measuring 6 in L. Longwy black printed factory marks flank this homemade red label.
