About the Item
This truely wonderful and rare Art Nouveau frame, with the powerful image of a winged scarab, was the symbol for life renewing itself in ancient Egypt.
The body of the scarab is enameled in different shades of blue, the hues of a changing sea. The copper wings, fixed onto the wooden frame with copper nails, are laid in with mother of pearl. The bottom corners are decorated with stylized birds set with mottled green glas cabochons. Their wings are equally set with mother of pearl.
