Italian Baroque Gilded Cartouche Sculpted Frame Early 1600s

About the Item

Hand carved Baroque Cartouche frame of rectangular shape formed by deep volutes that connect with two central keys and foliage with the bulbous ribbing near the corners. Gilded in fine gold gouache with Armenian red bolus preparation. Inside it is centered by a textured fabric with little flowers in embroidered color. In good state of preservation apart from minor shortcomings consistent with 17th-century dating, is from a Milanese collection. Of Lombard origin, this fine 1600s Baroque frame, is carved and carved by hand with foliage; the depth of the pronounced swirls is enhanced by the dark finish of the oxide silver of the scrolls, the ornamental motifs depicting leaves with rolled, crumpled tips. A stunning Italian gilt copper ewer dating back to 18th century with a circular body featuring a quadripartite decoration defined by the repoussé of a double vertical ribbed frame that frames tableaux decorated with floral scrolls; the background of these sections is finely dotted by chisel tool to underline a very pleasant relief to the embossed parts thanks to the burnishing. An excellent and unique hand-made pitcher, selected in a private collection of Northern Italy.
