A beautifully matched pair of late 19th-century Black Forest hand-carved wooden picture or mirror frames featuring intricate floral and branch motifs with a rich walnut patina, elegant examples of traditional Alpine craftsmanship.
A stunning pair of late 19th-century Black Forest hand-carved wooden frames, crafted with exceptional detail and artistry. Each frame is sculpted from solid wood and features naturalistic branch and bark motifs, beautifully intertwined with hand-carved floral decorations. The carving shows great depth and texture, typical of Alpine craftsmanship from the Black Forest region, with a warm dark walnut finish and a fine, original patina.
These walnut frames were made around 1880–1900 and remain in very good antique condition, showing only minor age-related wear consistent with their authenticity. The structure is solid and the carving crisp, displaying the quality and character of traditional 19th-century woodwork.
The original prints currently displayed inside are decorative reproductions of old paintings, the true value lies in the exceptional carved frames themselves.
Each frame measures approximately 17.3 x 15.4 inches) overall, with an inner opening of 10.1 x 8 inches. Their rustic yet refined appearance makes them highly versatile: they can be used to frame artworks, mirrors, or simply displayed as sculptural decorative pieces that bring warmth and authenticity to any interior.
