About the Item
This exceptional pair of Art Nouveau picture frames were handcrafted towards the very end of the 19th century. The frames are made out of oak that has been dyed with a fir tree green. The top of the frames feature a capital. The sides of the frames are decorated with a grooved vertical ornament. Underneath the capital the frames are decorated with a carved stylized palm leaf border that has been gilt. The inner border of the frames are decorated with gilt beading.
One of the frames has some minor damage to the upper edges.
