1960s Mid Century Modern Abstract Metal "Wall Jewelry" Sculpture Harry Bertoia

About the Item

MAGNIFICENT! BRUTALIST HANDWORKED SCULPTED METAL WALL ART Attributed to Harry Bertoia. INCREDIBLE WELDS, WORKMANSHIP & DESIGN! HUGE! Approximately 42" x 35" and up to 8" Deep. This worked direct metal wall sculpture is a one of a kind mid century treasure! The visual and textural appeal of this piece is sensational! Welded, heated and enameled metals of various types have been put together to create a marvelous use of space and rich hues! Like a dandelion split into two halves, this work features thousands of welds as the rods are welded together and kept spaced apart in a magnificent repeating stair-step pattern! Look closely at the images and you will see this painstaking, but magnificent work! The colored hand-cut metal pieces welded in symmetry are a marvelous detail and make this spectacular work qualify for the description "wall jewelry" indtead of merely wall art! This is a three dimensional rod sculpture that is most uncommon and delightful! This work is quite large: 42" across and 35" tall. Because the work protrudes from the wall in three dimensions it takes up much visual space! it is a work of unrivaled mid century appeal! This sculpture will be the highlight of the decor elements in your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic ranch or New Canaan estate!
