Brutalist Direct Metal Bull Sculpture Yahweh, Gilt Polychroming Stock Market

About the Item

Rare! Brutalist Bull Sculpture Depicting Archaic Deity Yahweh Gilt Polychroming Verso base "Yahweh" This fascinating sculpture is done in a simple, primitive style, looking like it might have been unearthed from an archaeological site. It depicts the deity Yahweh in his manifestation as a bull. In the story of Exodus 32, the tale reveals that when Moses was gone for 40 days and presumed dead the Israelites asked Aaron to form an idol for them to worship as they had been accustomed. A gold calf had been formed by melting earrings and other objects the Israelites had. They proceeded to worship this idol, representing their old god, even though Moses had forbade this. The bull was a symbol of strength and fertility. Even today a profitable stock market is called a "bull market". This sculpture acts as a symbol of defiance and also, simultaneously, as a cautionary reminder of the worship of golden idols or false gods. In excellent vintage condition. Light wear. The very simple and elegant design presents beautifully! A rare and symbolic acquisition for your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic ranch or West Palm Beach estate!
