About

A constructed and painted wood sculpture titled "Cherub #3" by the American abstract artist Gordon Powell. His work has been exhibited at The Art Institute of Chicago, Racine Art Museum and the American Academy in Rome and he is the recipient of several national and international awards. In describing Powell's work in the "181st Annual" at the National Academy Museum in New York, a critic for the New York Times noted that Powell put an "inventive spin" on abstraction and cited his idiosyncratic originality. Signed, dated and titled. Retains original Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago label.
