It is from VALENT HODI MIHÁLY Hungarian.
Painter, sculptor (Fót, 1937-), he still maintains contact with his relatives living in Vanyarc (his father is Mihály Valent, who married Fótra de Vanyarc).
He has lived abroad since 1956, settled in Switzerland, got married there and now lives in Fót again. He is a founding member of the group of artists Groupe N9. He devotes himself to painting, sculpture and making cartoons. At first he mainly created collages. He first painted his sculptures black, then turned to using bright colors. He mainly works with wood and also deals with interior decoration. He has participated in numerous individual and group exhibitions. His public sculpture is in Geneva (Totem).
.
Founded in Milan in 1980 by Ettore Sottsass, the Memphis group is a gathering of architects, young creators and designers. It opens up more to fashion and current international artistic movements such as Pop Art. He immediately destabilized the codes of post-Bauhaus design by introducing; a much wider range of colors, the kitsch pattern and the use of laminate in furniture. More generally, he is at the origin of new forms in the world of furniture, lighting and tableware.
.
Named after Bob Dylan's song Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again, the name refers not only to rock but also to the capital of ancient Egyptian civilization, and of course to the city where Elvis Presley lived. He had a sense of humor that was lacking in design at the time.
.
With this movement, Sottsass and his gang wanted to put an end to the ambient good taste. The bourgeois interiors were chic and sober with cream tones, glass tables and tubular legs everywhere. The Memphis style advocated for colorful interiors, where chic materials would be combined with kitsch materials. These design troublemakers were not afraid of eccentricity. On the contrary, they married the unassociable. Wood, plastic, metal, laminate came together in improbable forms. You have to see Sottsass’s “Carlton” bookcase, which looks like an immense totem, to be believed, or even his “Tahiti” lamp, which has a surreal look, to understand the movement’s attachment to extravagant silhouettes.

Ron Arad's first creations are furniture made with metal tubes and called "one-offs" because they are unique pieces. One Off is also the name of his first company. Ron Arad became famous in the early 1970s, thanks to the creation of seats inspired by the armchairs of a Rover, seats that he found in a car junkyard. Also among Ron Arad's best-known pieces are the Bookworm shelf from 1993 and the Tom Vac chair from 1997. His surprising work makes him a free creator without constraints or borders who navigates between design, architecture and plastic arts. Ron Arad uses materials such as plastic, polished steel or aluminum to create elements made of aerial scrolls. His creations with sinusoidal, elliptical or ovoid shapes range from unique pieces to industrial production, including limited series. In 2008, the Center Pompidou presents a retrospective of his work, entitled "No Discipline". There are major and emblematic pieces of the artist, prototypes accompanied by audiovisuals, limited series and objects of industrial production as well as numerous architectural projects. Giovanni Offerdi ITALIAN, 1927-2007 About his mid-century modern furniture designs, which marry minimalist simplicity with elegance and symmetry, Italian designer Giovanni Offredi once said, "Beauty should not be confused with appearance, for the latter is the superficial part of the form". Born in Milan in 1927, Offredi was not trained as an architect, unlike many of his contemporaries in the first half of the 20th century. He also didn't start designing furniture until later in his career. Its first known pieces of furniture were commissioned by wealthy Milanese families in 1960. It was not until the late 1960s - when Mr. Offredi met Sergio Saporiti, owner of Italian furniture manufacturer and design store Saporiti - that his furniture designs have become more prominent. In 1970, Offredi joined forces with Saporiti and produced several lines of innovative and modernist furniture. Among the most outstanding pieces by Offredi are the Wave chair, sofa and chaise longue, with its soft curves, the Onda coffee...Category
