About the Item
We were delighted to find this magnificent sculpture at a local Palm Springs Estate. The original owners purchased this beauty from Arthur Court Designs showroom in San Francisco in the 1970’s. It still has the original hang tag with the price on it. The tag reads:
Rock Crystal Quartz cluster as mined in the 1800’s from the Hangtown area of the Mother Lode….of the the largest cluster known to have been taken from the area. The original price was $750.00. The cluster is mounted on a custom steel base and stands over 4 feet tall. It is magnificent and looks amazing when sunlight shines through.

Arthur Court
The work of Arthur Court is a constant delight to his fans. The San Francisco based designer created a wide range of sophisticated yet cheerful furnishings and bijoux based on natural forms that included flowers, cacti, antlers and animals.
Court’s designs drew on his rich and diverse experiences. He grew up in Minnesota, and his childhood rambles in the woods made him a lifelong naturalist. Navy service in the Pacific during World War II exposed Court to Asian cultures, and later in life Court was fond of taking African safaris. Upon his return from the war, Court moved to San Francisco and opened an interior design business — attracting such high-profile Hollywood clients as Shirley Temple Black and the Andrews Sisters. In 1966, he opened a store that offered smaller furniture pieces, tabletop wares and decorative sculptures. These included glass-topped tables with bases shaped like lilies or palm trees; whimsical monkey candlesticks and ice buckets in the form of rabbits and whales; or cast-aluminum tortoise shell-shaped lamps.

A massive 450 pound Lucite sculpture by the noted artist Bijan Bahar. This piece is enormous and quite impressive. It looks great with the led light changing colors which will accompany the piece.
It features an etched signature. This piece was hand-craved out by the artist and when viewed at the proper angle the hollowed out circle looks like multiple circles. Quite a stunning effect. it sits on a ring of Lucite and has an acrylic base plate. The sculpture is 22.75 inches tall but with the ring, which allows it to be rotated quite easily and base is 25.5 inches tall. This sculpture has a bit of cloudiness to it and some minor scuffs and marks. A truly monumental work by a talented artist.
