Bronze and Marble Sculpture by Neil Hadlock
About the Item
Signed, dated and numbered abstract bronze and marble sculpture by listed Utah artist Neil Hablock, Circa, 1984. Abstract bronze form on top of black marble stand can be left up to interpretation.
Bio : Neil Hadlock spent his boyhood in Idaho, where his father and a grandfather were blacksmiths. His other grandfather painted naive portraits of fishermen and their catches. Those formative years were in a world where the only iron and steel Hadlock touched were tools and farming equipment. Practical items. Hadlock said his father and grandfathers stirred his creative energy when he was a boy. He remembers thinking then that someday he would be an artist. "I never considered anything else," he said.
Today, Hadlock forges metal sculptures for corporate clients. He is known for his metal sculptures in iron, cast bronze or stainless steel. His earliest works included polished stainless steel, or smooth painted metal. In his current phase, his metal is more natural.
His metal sculptures can be seen at the Community Cultural Center in Gilbert Arizona, the Koll Co. in Phoenix, and at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Hadlock's work also is displayed at the corporate offices of USA Today in Arlington, Va.; the National Bank of Sweden in Stockholm; and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
