Casted Bronze Cenote Object by C. Nuñez

About the Item

Cenote Object by C. Nuñez Hand Patinated Casted Bronze 27.5D x 5.5H cm 10.8D x 2.1H in CURRENTLY IN STOCK Formally inspired in the pre-Hispanic ballgame courts, cenote represents, with its pure materiality, the ancient Mesoamerican glory. An exhaustive work with sand casting —the author creates a handmade patina through thousands of layers and the use of different acids —becomes a tangible proof of the piece’s singularity. C. Nuñez explores the concept of "true purpose" for contemporary creators. He translates this idea into art pieces, objects, and projects as a whole—outcomes that express, through their individuality, different layers of a rational and emotional approach.

This is a stunning and rare collection of mirror polished bronze figures by Barbara Beretich from her estate. This collection contains 7 total pieces; we have 3 different figures represented. One group has 4 pieces (5" x 4.5" x 2"), one group has 2 ( 4" x 4" x 2"), and the the last is a single piece (3.5" x 2" x 2") Please see pictures. We have decided to offer this group of pieces as a collection. This is a great opportunity to have such a prolific collection of Beretich pieces; these figures will be sure to draw attention. They work well together and display well within a bowl. During her younger years in California, Beretich's family raised multiple animals including hogs, cows, sheep and horses. This was often a prominent influence in her sculpture. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a BA in art. The following year Beretich spent time in Europe where she met and became lifelong friends with French artist, Francoise Gilot.Ater Europe, she moved to Claremont CA...
