Ceramic and Woven Cotton Vessel in White and Tan

About

One of a kind vessel #671 by Karen Gayle Tinney Short vessel with handmade stoneware base left unglazed to reveal the natural texture of the fired clay. The ceramic base was created by the artist using a hand-building technique (without the use of moulds or a wheel), resulting in a true one of a kind piece with an organic look. The upper portion of the vessel is woven using a coiling technique in tan cotton with a cotton/poly core. This time intensive weaving technique and material combination are a signature of the artist's work. These piece is not water tight and is not intended to be used to hold water without the use of a liner.
