About the Item
Geometric Lines II, 2023, (Ceramic, C. 5.3 in. h x 9.8 in. dia., Object No.: 4167)
There is a clear connection between the consistency that Skov Madsen establishes in her research of surfaces, material and ornamentalism, and her efforts that carry the exploration of form systems. Repetitions and the variations in the sequences absorb her interest primarily. Skov Madsen has a cool and rational approach, which- almost against expectations- emanates utterly sensual and palpably interesting results.
The field of exploration for Lone Skov Madsen’s ceramic practice lies in the intertwined relationship between design and crafts with the vase, the jar, and the tray as the most frequently occurring object categories.
Lone Skov Madsen was born in 1964, and lives and works in Frederiksberg, Denmark. She received degrees from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen in 1988 and the Istituto Statale d’Arte per la Ceramica in Faenza, Italy in 1989.

Unique Porcelain Sculpture by Olivia Walker
By Olivia Walker
Located in New York, NY
Nest I, 2022 (Porcelain, C. 4.3 in. H x 6.7 in. W x 6.7 in. D., Object No.: 3922)
Olivia Walker works in porcelain to create pieces that explore the symbiotic relationship between growth and decay, as well as the relationship between nature and man-made. All of her works start by being thrown on the wheel, before being built upon with thousands of individually-applied fragments of porcelain. Many of her vessels are thrown and altered – they are cut away and reassembled in the leather-hard stage which allows her to deconstruct the form of the bowl and then build up a surface on this new form. Olivia starts from a set point on a bowl and lets these organic accretions spread out and grow – ‘eating through," or growing over the form beneath. They make reference to organisms such as coral and fungus, but remain abstract.
Olivia Walker was born in 1985 and lives and works in London. Her work was featured in numerous publications including Emerging Potters Magazine, Clay Craft...

Ceramic Sculpture "Starburst" Sphere in Natural White With Blue/Gray Interior
By Helena Starcevic Ceramics
Located in New York, NY
Inspired by the viewing of the 2017 Total Eclipse of the Sun, these pieces consist of uniquely hand-formed conical shapes, like bursts or rays eminating from an interior sphere. This challenging form takes weeks to construct, many more for the multiple underglaze applications and firings required.
"Starburst" sphere in natural white with blue or gray depicts the muted tones of the underglazes used. There is no...
