About the Item
A fine unique "left handed" studio glass cup by Richard Meitner made in 1984. The short handle on the left and the scruffy looking eagle are making this pop art style cup look a bit like it was intended for clumsy users only. If you recognize certain patriotic symbols on this cup, there is no need to feel offended. The American born artist did some hands full of these works in the Netherlands in the 1980ties and everyone got their comeuppance. It is also a great glass technically, with the red cane inserts in the lattimo white base, the applications, the copper foil, the mottling with glass granulates and the free formed shape. It is signed and dated "R.Meitner 84".
