George De Groat Signed 1973 Abstract Bronze Sculpture of a Man

About the Item

A 1973 abstract bronze sculpture of a man by American artist George De Groat (1917-1995). Signed and dated "G. De Groat 6/18/73” to the base, the nude figure is swinging his arms while walking with an exaggerated gait. The sculpture is attached to a flat bronze base which is adhered to a stone base. George De Groat studied at The Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and the Art School of Detroit and Society of Arts. He taught art at many different institutions, and held the position of Assistant Dean and Chairman for Special Classes Program at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.
