A contemporary steel & glass free standing sculpture from JP Long’s "Edge Series" collection. Embossed signature and dated 2007 on the side. From a private collection. Measures 94 inches tall, 22.5 inches wide, and 13.5 inches deep. In very good condition.
This sculpture combines industrial strength with refined elegance. It features two sweeping, flame-like steel forms that rise dramatically to a pointed apex, framing a central hand-blown glass element that adds a luminous, organic contrast to the dark metal surface. The juxtaposition of materials—cold-forged steel and transparent glass—creates a dynamic dialogue between rigidity and fragility, power and delicacy. Long’s sculptural language reflects a deep exploration of balance, motion, and the interplay of light across polished and matte surfaces.
