Large white ceramic sculpture by Pino Castagna, Italy 1970s
About the Item
Large white ceramic sculpture by Pino Castagna (1932 - 2017), Italy 1970s. The sculpture is made from a strong red clay and is finished with a thick voluminous off white, semi gloss glazing which is showing an impeccable crackle structure. The shapes and lines have a very minimal yet strong presence reminicent of the neo-primitive art movement. Castagne studied at the Cignaroli Academy of Verona and concluding his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 1959 he met English artist Michael Noble, with who he collaborated until 1963. Castagna's ceramics range from small series production to large-scale sculptures. Given their large dimensions, his works have been defined as archisculptures. His work is in the collection of several museums and his sculptures are placed on important locations in various cities. The sculpture is in an excellent original condition. * We have another sculpture available coming from the same collection.
