Llave CD Sculpture by Turbina

About the Item

Llave CD Sculpture by Turbina Dimensions: W 48 x D 27 x H 60 cm Materials: Cast Stone, Glass From science fiction, we take objects that go beyond their physical presence to become icons of transcendence. Acquiring the quality of a bridge, a threshold, for encounter and revelation, these objects that we cannot locate, signify or describe interrupt the continuum of information. They manifest themselves as a tear, a rupture, a place of extreme intensity and condensation where something indefinable dwells. It is not possible to name them, their origin is unknown. But only in silence we can accede to a contemplative lingering. Las Llaves are the beginning and the very end of the experience. There are 4 pieces (A, B, C and D) that work separately, but they also assemble (A-B and C-D), they fit together trapping a crystal. It is a physical and precise fit that requires no screws or tools. Both separately and together, they are both functional and sculptural. Depending on the position in which they are arranged, they appear as a low table, low stools, minimal shelving, or sculptural pieces. They are made of Stone Cast, our accidentally invented material, this time with a silky finish and warm brown colors. Turbina is an art and design studio located in Barcelona and focused on the creation of pieces, objects and machines that revolve around the concepts of time and movement. Through our work, we try to give other answers to the logical and trascendental dificulties the very IDEA of time presents. We respect the materials own language, we select them for they’re implicit symbology and we explore they’re possibilities comprehending they’re nature. Manufactured by ourselves in a slow and thorough process.
