Made in 1599 Beautiful Wooden Buddha Statue / Bodhisattva / Edo Period

About the Item

We have a unique Japanese aesthetic sense. And only we can introduce unique items through our purchasing channels in Japan and the experience we have gained so far, in such a way that no one else can imitate. It is a wood carving Buddha of 1599 in the Edo period in Japan. I think it's Nikko Bodhisattva. Bodhisattva is a Buddhist statue that is considered to be the second most precious being after Nyorai, the highest rank in Buddhism. And there are different types of Nyorai, and there is a Buddhist image of medicine called "Yakushi Nyorai" that cures people's illnesses. On both sides of the Buddha statue, there are generally three bodhisattvas, the Nikko Bodhisattva and the Moonlight Bodhisattva, in a set. In the case of this Buddha statue, only the Nikko Bodhisattva The Nikko Bodhisattva usually has a lotus flower in his left hand. This is a missing lotus flower, but it is presumed to be the Nikko Bodhisattva because there is a hole in his left hand that points to the lotus. Ink is also hung on the back. The content is written as "I made the Nikko Moonlight Bodhisattva on May 15, 1599." The year of production is sometimes written on the Buddha statue. This is valuable information. 1599 is just before the Edo period. This era is still called the Momoyama era. In 1600, a big battle in Japanese history begins. The warlord "Ieyasu Tokugawa" who won this battle created the Edo Shogunate, and the Edo period began. It is a very historical Buddha statue made in such an era. There are some defects such as the right hand and toes, but the face and coloring remain, and the carefully carved clothes remain. I got it from a collector I know. It is a very rare item. However, I want many people to know the goodness of Japanese antiques, so the price is set reasonably.
