About the Item
A large unique and stunning vintage porcelain egg made by the talented Sylvia Leuchovius for Rörstrand, Sweden. This a very special item, a studio production and only produced in a very limited number. handmade and painted. The decoration has a simplicity and elegance to it, it has a white background with bold dark blue circles and details in blue and yellow. Even though it has a simple design it has the most elegant and sophisticated appearance. This is very much due to the craftsmanship needed to be able to produce such an art piece. It is signed and marked. It is 19cm (7.48") high and about 14cm (5.51") in diameter and in perfect condition.
Rörstrand porcelain was one of the most famous Swedish porcelain manufacturers, with production initially at Karlbergskanalen in Stockholm, Sweden. Formed as a company in 1726, Rörstrand soon became the largest of the nation's ceramic factories. As time progressed, they became more and more prestigious and produced goods for various royal households all over Europe. The fame gained meant that they could constantly reinvent themselves and be in the forefront when it came to various designs. Their heyday as contemporary and mid-century modern design company started in the 1930s, when the focus partly shifted from producers of household goods to pure interior design objects. They soon became cutting edge and the world started to be appreciative of their sleek, elegant and sophisticated style.
