Coppia di obelischi in marmo ambrato, realizzati negli anni '60 Ø cm 9,5 h cm 35 Gli obelischi erano originariamente costruiti dagli antichi egizi come monumenti religiosi per onorare i loro dei. La parola "obelisco" deriva dalla parola greca "obeliskos", che significa "spiedo". Gli obelischi erano spesso decorati con geroglifici che raccontavano le gesta dei faraoni. Erano anche considerati simboli di potere e ricchezza. Gli antichi romani conquistarono l'Egitto nel 31 a.C. e portarono molti obelischi a Roma. Lì furono eretti in luoghi pubblici come monumenti alla loro vittoria sugli egizi. Oggi ci sono oltre 30 obelischi sopravvissuti nel mondo.
