About the Item
Beautiful sculpture designed by Philippe Adamantidis and made in his own atelier in Belgium in 1970. This organic sculpture has an amazing appearance. Attractive from every angle. The walnut wood shows a very nice grain and tone. It also plays beautifully with light because of the rounded form. It has an open shape with openings on the left and right. You can really see the carving skill of the maker in this artwork. In excellent original condition and signed "Tidis" at the bottom. This piece comes directly from the artists former personal collection where he kept his favorite pieces.
By nature, wood has its grain, its texture, its character. But it's Tidis who gives it its shape, its sensuality and its expressiveness. Tidis has been working with wood since he started sculpting. Never figurative. Always sensual lines and curves. He knows the limitations, though. In his art, he faces them daily. Sculpting allows him to engage in dialogue with the material, and wood is a material that imposes limitations. "We are forced by the shape, the flaws, the texture..."
