About the Item

THE DESERTED CITY - THE SHIP “For Many And Long Years I Have Lived, Alone And In Silence, Under The Great Waters. I Have Inhabited All The Seas, I Have Explored All The Oceans, I Have Lowered All The Abyss…” The Deserted City is a series of sculptural constructions in homage to "GOG", the book by Giovanni Papini, 1881-1956. ARCHITECTURAL AND ENIGMATIC. DRAMATIC. DARK. CRUDE. BALANCED. BRUTALISTIC. ATEMPORAL. The sculptures in The Deserted City speak of labyrinths and impossible constructions, where the very vision of the pieces can be confusing. The pieces can be placed in various positions, taking shapes that play with the viewer's mind through gaps and protrusions. In them, light and shadow have a fundamental aesthetic and harmonic value, which makes the mind wander, transporting it to a space-time lost in the confines of known civilisation. MATERIAL: plywood, pigmented plaster, marble dust. DIMENSIONS: 350 x 400 x 350 mm (LxWxH). LIMITED EDITIONS: 1AP + 20 units.
