A studio glass sculpture co-produced by Kurt Wallstab and Joachim Ittig in 1998

About the Item

A studio glass sculpture co-produced by Kurt Wallstab and Hans-Joachim Ittig in 1998. After gaining international success for his flamework artistry, Kurt Wallstab experimented with taking his work further and into the world of blown glass and casting. He met the young and talented Hans-Joachim Ittig, who had set up a hot shop just an hour away from Wallstab in Wertheim. The results were some sculptural works and vessels in glass, achieved by casing Wallstab's sophisticated flameworked montages into clear glass. Here we have one of the rare sculptural, paperweight style works, that the two artists made. the cased montage was joint with a hot applied opaque black stand. Signed and dated "WALLIT 98" and numbered 2503. Refined with cutting and polishing to one side, to give a better visual appearance of the cased flamework between the layers.
