Sugar Pine Sphere Sculpture
About the Item
A stunning and-sculpted solid sugar pine sphere sculpture with archival ink drawn designs and hand-painted with watercolor. This piece has been hand-sealed and museum waxed by artist Michael Stallings. This was painted in the early 2000’s. Inspired by Persian Carpet Designs.
This artist is known for his painstaking attention to detail One major thing that makes this piece unique is the subtle gradations in reds and yellows applied with water and brushwork throughout the sphere. There is slightly more balance between negative and positive space in this piece than others, and that leaves room for a warm passionate sense of experimentation and expressiveness. At times the natural grain of the wood can go against the directions of the pattern creating an interesting layer of texture to the piece.
