About the Item

Artist : Alberto Cabiddu, “Trova Tempo”, 1997 Totemic Sculpture in Pietra di Vicenza Dimensions: H 151 cm x D 26 cm x W 18.5 cm (59.45 x 10.24 x 7.28 inches) Condition: Excellent A poetic testament to the artist’s perseverance, “Trova Tempo” is a rare totemic sculpture carved in Pietra di Vicenza by Italian sculptor Alberto Cabiddu in 1997. Created during a deeply introspective period in which Cabiddu struggled to devote time to his practice, this work stands as both a personal manifesto and a universal reminder: make time. Subtle yet resolute, the surface of the totem reveals an engraved inscription—“Trova Tempo,” meaning Find Time. These words are not merely decorative, but an integral part of the sculpture’s identity, inviting reflection and intimacy. Carved from Pietra di Vicenza, a historic limestone known for its warm tonality and enduring strength, the piece bridges contemporary abstraction with Italy’s classical sculptural tradition. Standing at just over 1.5 meters tall, “Trova Tempo” carries a quiet monumentality that works beautifully in both indoor and sheltered outdoor spaces. Its vertical form and minimalist aesthetic make it an exceptional focal point for a contemplative garden, entry hall, or curated gallery setting. As sculptural art becomes increasingly personal and symbolic, this piece offers both narrative depth and timeless material beauty. For collectors of soulful modernism and Italian craftsmanship, “Trova Tempo” is more than an object—it’s a message carved in stone. Alberto Cabiddu, born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1966, discovered his passion for art at just 10 years old, thanks to a teacher who saw his talent. Though his teenage years were more focused on music than art, his love for drawing returned full force around age 18, leading him to Paris and back to Geneva for drawing courses. In 1987, Alberto moved to the province of Vicenza, where he fell in love with sculpture, experimenting with local "Vicenza stone," marble, wood, and clay. He learned from artists like sculptor Agostino Gallio and ceramicist Antonio Visentin, but mostly, he's a self-taught artist. Today, Alberto focuses on abstract sculpture. "So far, he has never been interested in promoting or sharing his work, but with time, things change..." Height 157 x Width 28 x Depth 25 cm - H.61.811 x W.11.023 x D.9.842 inches. The Totem will be shipped insured overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US, Euro 875, is crate included.
