About the Item
This tiki-style carved wooden rack is unique. With its mid-century desert tiki vibe, it's the perfect example of the cool artifacts found on the West Coast.
This piece is painstakingly carved from solid wood. Features an opening at the top to place pens, air plants, dried flowers, cocktail sticks, etc. Perfect for storing your bar tools on a bar cart etc. (we believe this was its original destination.)
The combination of mid-century modern design aesthetics and Tiki culture was popular in Palm Springs, California in the mid-20th century.
Palm Springs, located in the California desert, became a popular destination for Hollywood stars and the wealthy in the 1950s and 1960s. During this time, many hotels and restaurants were built in a mid-century modern style. century, often incorporating Tiki design elements such as bamboo furniture, palm leaf prints, and carved wooden masks.
The combination of mid-century modern design and Tiki culture created a unique aesthetic that is still celebrated today in Palm Springs. Many of the original hotels and restaurants from this era still exist and have been preserved or restored, and new businesses have opened with a similar mid-century Tiki aesthetic.
