1950s Design Foal by Goebel, Mid Century White Porcelain Art Horse, West Germany

About the Item

A beautifully designed foal by W. Goebel, one of Western Germany's most famous makers of mid-century figurative art. The company started as Cortendorf, later it was taken over by W. Goebel. This young and quite wild (ready to jump) horse was designed in the 1950s. The figurine comes in a slightly matte to mildly glossy glaze in white. Mint condition.

    Original 1950s to 1960s West German 3D wall sculpture by well known Majolika ceramic makers: Cortendorf of Western Germany. Beautifully designed and made from dark clay commonly referred to as 'Majolika' ceramics. The surface is rough, the glaze is thick and shiny in white, light blue the headscarf, light yellow the hair, and bright red the lips. Marked: 3694, as well as 'Made in Western Germany'.
