19th Century Dog Muzzle Sculptures on Lucite Bases
About the Item
Collection of 19th century dog muzzle sculptures on Lucite bases, American, circa late 19th-early 20th century. If you were a bad doggie back in the day, this is what you had to wear. All were handmade, most likely by the same artisan, and most retain their original leather straps. We have a collection of five of these muzzles, only four were photographed. The price noted is for all five. From left to right, they measure: 10.5" H x 7" x 8", 9.5" H x 6.5" x 5", 10.75" H x 8" x 6", and 9.5" H x 7" x 4.5".

- Condition:Additions or alterations made to the original: Metal posts and lucite bases added to the muzzles. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Very good condition. The metal shows various oxidation and wear, and the leather straps on some are broken or missing. Various surface scratches, rubs, and wear commensurate with age and use.
