"La Moissonneuse" Statue en Bronze Par Ernest Rancoulet

About the Item

Important bronze sculpture with brown patina representing a young woman harvester returning from work in the fields. Note the beautiful expression of the face underlining the satisfaction of the work. This work is large and sculpted on all sides. It offers a 360 degree view, allowing presentation on a column. The quality of the carving is superior as well as that of the original brown patina offering a visual rendering that catches the eye. It is signed hollow on the terrace and completed by the round hollow stamp of the founder " B.COTTIN ET FILS PARIS "; This statue was donated to the Orne Agriculture Society following the death of its President in 1928. Ernest RANCOULET ( 1842-1918 ) was born in Bordeaux in 1842 and died in 1918. He was a pupil of Lequesne and appeared at the Salon from 1870 to 1876. ( ref: Benezit .
