An exceptional, fine and impressive, large pair of antique German silver table pheasants, part of our continental ornamental silverware collection. These exceptional antique cast German silver table ornaments have been realistically modelled in the form of a pair of pheasants. Each of the silver pheasant ornaments has been embellished with fine details reproducing the plumage, in addition to the bird's anatomical features. These exceptional birds are embellished with the original tail feathers; the tails are larger than typical examples of this style. This fine quality stamped WMF silver plated sculpture is a rare and most interesting subject. It depicts an early European exploring mountaineer dressed in smart early 20th century country climbing attire. He is modelled holding a climbing pick axe making his way up a steep rock face to reach the summit. This interesting sculpture is in very good original condition with very little signs of wear to the slightly tarnished silver plating which could be cleaned more if preferred. German, circa 1910.
