About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso teal to light blue and gold flecks Italian art glass pheasant bird sculptures. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini. They are a matched pair, with male (long tail) and female (curled tail) figurines. The birds have been sculpted very well, with a lot of details to the face and bodies. The pair has gold leaf on their faces, eyes, beaks and crests, as well as on the leafs at the base. Would make a great display piece on any side table, credenza or dresser. Mid-century era. Measurements: Long tail bird measures 8" long x 5" tall - Curled tail bird measures 7" long x 5" tall.

Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
