Swedish modernist partially glazed ceramic tile wall hanging created by Bertil Vallien, circa 1960s. Tile measures 11.25" by 15.75" by 5/8" and is signed on the front Vallin. In very good vintage 1960s condition. Swedish glass master Bertil Vallien was born in 1938 in a suburb north of Stockholm, where he felt the inclination to be an artist from a very early age. He studied ceramics at the Konstfack School of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm, then spent two years at the School for Advanced Industrial Design. In 1989 she returned to academic life, graduated from Alfred University with a B.F.A. in ceramics and met her future husband, Fred Johnston.
