Dolphin sculpture on an orange Murano glass ball, whose creation is attributed to Seguso in the 1960s Ø 9 cm Ø 19 cm h 23 cm Seguso is a family name synonymous with Murano glass, a prestigious form of Venetian glassmaking known for its artistry, craftsmanship, and rich history. The Seguso family has been dedicated to this art form for an incredibly long time – since May 3, 1397, to be exact! That makes them one of the most esteemed and historical glass manufacturers on the island of Murano, and among the largest glass furnaces there. Pieces made by Seguso can be found in over 75 museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MOMA) in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Today, Seguso is known for its high-end Venetian glass objects, lighting, accessories, and custom installations. They’ve created pieces for the Pope, royalty, and numerous luxury interiors around the world.

Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso bright orange Italian art glass fish on base sculpture. Documented to designer Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso, circa 1950s. Published in his book (see photo), model 6180, and a later model number 6913 is in the same shape. The fish has little murine eyes, with white Latticino ribbons on the fins and tail. It is balanced on a clear glass base. Would make a great display piece on any dresser, coffee table, or display cabinet. Mid-century era.
