About the Item
A very nice large raku pottery seated bear by Tony Evans, circa 1970s. The piece is signed on the underside and extremely well crafted; it has wonderful green and brown colors and interesting glaze work. The bear is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and measures 8"W x 7"D x 8"H. The sculpture is signed and numbered opn the underside. Great looking sculpture! #4593RM
Tony Evans is a ceramic artist currently based in the United Kingdom. He specializes in Raku pottery, a traditional technique where individual pieces are first fired at 2,000 degrees and then submerged in paper or leaves as a way to reduce the surface, causing a unique crackling affect and polychrome lustre.
