About the Item

"Louis-Albert Carvin was a French artist known for his bronze animalier sculptures. Though he mainly produced depictions of dogs, birds, wild cats, horses and other creatures, his single best known work was La Muse de l’aviation (1909). This work was a trophy commissioned by the Aero Club of Sarthe, for Orville and Wilbur Wright. Born on August 7, 1875 in Paris, France, Carvin went on to study under Emmanuel Frémiet and Georges Gardet at the École des Beaux-Arts and later became a member of the Sociéte des Artistes Français.
