Signed, Blown Art Glass Fish Sculpture by Josef Marcolin

About the Item

Signed, Blown Art Glass Fish Sculpture by Josef Marcolin UPDATE: Due to agreement with 1stDibs, we'll be staying through the end of the year. A very special sculpture. Blue and wine-red blown glass fish by the Italian Murano glass blower Josef Marcolin. Measures approximately 5.5 x 5.5 x 1.75 inches. Josef Marcolin (1933-2015), who originallly lived and was trained as a glassblower in Murano, Italy, moved to Sweden with his brother Benito in 1954. They made beautiful blown glass/crystal sculptures, such as this one, that are known for their stunning, unique blend of Murano and Swedish style. In 1991 they moved back to Italy and continued to create for a short time under the name Sardinia Crystal. Eventually they parted and moved again, with Josef continuing to create, under the name Marcolin Art Crystal. Measurements are approximate. Please be aware that the color on your monitor and/or in your environment may look slightly different than in ours. Please also keep in mind that vintage glass usually will show some indication of previous ownership, such as scuffing, scratching, or wear on base. Buyers of vintage glass are presumed to understand and accept such hints of previous ownership. Feel free to send questions if you have any and we will be pleased to respond. #Decor #sculptures #mid-centurymodern #animalia #animals #fishsculpture #signed #Marcolin #Murano #Sardinia #figuralsculpture

In Murano glass work, fine gold dust inside the glass is called gold polveri. Perhaps this term was dropped by Marcolin due to the inclusions being more notable gold flecks rather than gold dust.
