Murano Blue Octopus Swimming Fish Italian Art Glass Aquarium Block Sculpture
About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Italian art glass double fish and octopus aquarium block sculpture. Created in the manner of the Cenedese and A.Ve.M. companies. One of the fish is bright red and deep red, with white ribbon fins. The other fish has red and white coloration that can be seen clearly from one side of the sculpture, while on the other side, it is mostly white and covered in bubbles (see photo). The octopus (maybe squid) has a dark blue, black and deep red swirl pattern on the body. They are all swimming among green algae, and the bottom has light blue shards of glass, to represent the ground or coral. The piece is made with 2 thick glass pieces sandwiched together. Would make a great display piece on any desk, curio cabinet or coffee table. Collectors item! Rare piece, and priced accordingly for the restored areas. Mid-century era. Measures 6" long x 4 3/4" tall x 1 1/2" wide.
