Pair of Petite Mythical Qilin Figures
About the Item
Despite their muscular frames and fearsome expressions, these petite stone beasts are actually the benevolent creatures known as qilin. Also known as kirin or Chinese unicorns, qilin are chimeric animals from Chinese mythology described as having the head of a dragon, the body of a tiger, the scales of a fish, and the antlers of a deer. They're considered to be good omens and potent symbols of joy, longevity, prosperity, and wisdom.
Extremely gentle creatures, qilin carefully avoid treading upon any living being, no matter how small. To avoid harming even one blade of grass, these qilin are resting upon plumes of swirling clouds summoned from their own mouths. Scales run down their arched backs and tendril-like flames lick their sides. With rich texture and whimsical imagery, these celestial protectors look wonderful standing guard in the home as bookends, garden ornaments, or tabletop sculptures.
