About the Item
A pair of beautifully modelled silver plate pheasant table ornaments, made in Europe in the 20th century.
Both the hen and cock pheasant sculptures are realistically modelled with outstretched wings, displaying excellent chased details to the bodies and plumage. Together they have a great energy between them and can be arranged in a variety of positions.
The fashion for silver game birds as ornaments first developed in the early 20th century in England and has continued ever since. They make a very entertaining and decorative addition to the table or as sideboard ornaments. This model in particular is very desirable thanks to the dramatic dynamic between the male and female bird.
Condition: there is a tiny crack on the underside of the tail of the cock pheasant, barely noticeable.
