Créé en 1912 par René Guilleré, Primavera est l’atelier d’art du grand magasin Le Printemps. L’idée était de proposer meubles et objets d’art alliant esthétique contemporaine, qualité et prix raisonnable. Le succès de l’atelier inspire d’autres grands magasins à ouvrir eux aussi des ateliers après la Première Guerre mondiale : La Maîtrise aux Galeries Lafayette et Pomone au Bon Marché. L’atelier participe à de nombreuses manifestations d’art décoratif, notamment pendant l’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs de 1925. Le pavillon Primavera y est l’un des plus remarqués pour son originalité, marquant ainsi l’histoire du mouvement Art déco.
