Offered for sale is an early pair of Sergio Bustamante (Mexican, born 1949) papier mache sculptures of a parrot and a bird with their eggs in nests. These early examples of Bustamante's work date to the 1970s and they are both signed on the underside as pictured. These will be sold as a pair.
They are found in their original condition as depicted.
Shown are documents that accompanied these pieces from the previous owner.

Sergio Bustamante
Sergio Bustamante studied architecture at the University of Guadalajara, and sold his artwork while in school, beginning in 1960. After graduating, he worked with local ceramicists, eventually opening his studio. In 1972, Bustamante moved to Amsterdam, where he learned more about painting and design. In 1975, he established his Family Workshop Studio in Tiaquepaque, Mexico. His monumental sculptures can be found in several cities, including Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, and Tiaquepaque.
