Swiss Black Forest Brienz Carved Bear Sculpture Serving Table / Display Stand

About the Item

Hand carved antique masterpiece. This original and all-hand carved Brienz bear sculpture is another one of our recent great finds. During my holiday in Switzerland (about a month ago) I could not believe my eyes when I found this piece in a private home and the owner was actually willing to part with it. This certainly is not the only Black Forest bear sculpture available on the worldwide web, but when it comes to the quality and details of the carvings, this prime example is right up there with the best. Do compare the posture and details of this bear with the others out there and you will see that this handcrafted work of art is great value for money. His mouth and nostrils come with the original red and all his teeth are still perfect and unrestored. This unique stand is as strong and stable as the day it was made and it is (and always has been) completely free of woodworm. Apart from a scar on his left cheek (caused by an old shrinkage crack) this glass eyed and incredibly well carved bear is in excellent condition. Holding up the original saucers, he can be used for all kinds of purposes. No matter what you decide to use him for, this candle stand, drinks stand, flower stand, photo stand etc. will be one of the most decorative and eye-catching antiques you and your guests will have ever seen. We have named him 'scarface, the Black Forest bear butler'.
