About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare circa 1850 hand-carved from a single piece of timber serving tray with snake handles chasing a frog
A very good looking and exquisitely carved piece, the handles are made up of the snake's body and he appears to be circling the frog which will ultimately become lunch! A nice little-hidden meaning there on a piece designed for serving food
The tray is carved from one solid piece of hardwood, it looks to be a wide grain Oak to me from the back. The finish is stunning, this piece deserves to be wall mounted as a piece of artwork
