Vintage Cape Dorset Inuit stone carving of a screeching Ptarmigan - fine carving with articulated feathers and feet - signed TR (in Roman - unknown / unidentified artist) on the base - Canada - circa 1960's. Excellent vintage condition - minor scuffs and scratches - no loss - no damage - no restoration - signs of age and use. Size/Dimensions - Medium - 2 1/4" (5.7 cm.) Wide x 4" (10.2 cm.) Deep x 5 1/8" (13 cm.) High.

This sculpture is a series of two stylized human figures intermixed with two representations of presumably Spirits, which has several carved faces in them. The entire sculpture is composed of hand carved and handcrafted antler, likely Caribou. This sculpture may symbolize a blessing of good fortune for an upcoming hunt.
