18th CENTURY PAIR OF SICILIANS "TESTE DI MORO"
About the Item
Unique and elegant pair of ebonized carved wooden sculptures depicting two Sicilian "Teste di Moro". These works of art, dating back to the first half of the 18th century and attributed to Sicilian or Neapolitan manufacturing, are a true artistic treasure. The heads have been expertly sculpted, with astonishing precision and realism in detail. Both the female and male heads wear an elaborate turban and damask fabrics, typical of the era. Every detail has been taken care of with great attention, creating a rich and sumptuous overall effect and displaying astonishing artistry. In fact, both heads were embellished with malacofauna and marine decorations in the form of necklaces, tiaras and parts of the clothes. The sculptures almost seem to come to life, sparkling thanks to their precious ornaments, conveying a feeling of nobility and mystery.
