About

Classic Italian bust of Hermes, composed of "grisaglia," the local white cement mixture of tiny stones, impregnated with lichen and moss from aging in the garden. Lake Como area of Italy, circa 1890. In Greek & Roman mythology, Hermes (also known as Mercury), son of Zeus, was clever and mischievous. Serving as the messenger of the gods of Olympus, he represented good times, good luck, wealth, and travel (with his winged cap and sandals). Measures: 25.75” height, 12.0” width (12.0” depth profile).
