About the Item
Beautiful signed, Auguste Moreau, statue of mother and child.
He is credited as one of the most important representatives of Art Nouveau, with ornate realistic and highly detailed sculptures. His work was first exhibited at the Paris Salon ("Salon des artistes français") in 1861. He continued to exhibit there until 1913. He was also present at the various world exhibitions in Paris. These had an important contribution to his commercial artistic success.
