    Impressive "high" Art Deco bronze dark-brown patinated sculpture of Pomona by Gustave Gillot (French, 1888-1965) of an excellent quality. Signed by the sculptor and stamped "Edition Pomona" on the plinth. Pomona, the ancient Roman goddess of fruit trees, gardens and orchards is watching over, protects and cares for their cultivation. Pomona is associated with the flourishing of the fruit trees, in artistic depictions she is generally shown with a platter of fruit or a cornucopia.
